Once upon a time, not that long ago, I had the pleasure of helping coordinate a lovely little wedding on the Disneyland Anaheim property. Along the way, I learned a fascinating thing or two about how a little DIY and a lot of determination can really make some fairy tale dreams come true.
Meet Mindy, a supremely resourceful, creative, crafty bride (and blogger):
I previously shared how her gorgeous wedding dress originated in a thrift store. See that unique ribbon veil? She made that! Now take a look at how Mindy & Tim combined their creative talents, many late night crafting hours and some true Disney magic to put together their dream wedding without breaking the bank.
Their romantic outdoor ceremony was held at the Disneyland Hotel and the décor included personal touches such as pretty, DIY gold mason jars filled with handmade fabric flowers.
After the ceremony, the reception at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel began with cocktails alongside the Disneyland Monorail.
In lieu of place cards, guests were guided to their seats using this clever DIY seating board (featuring favorite TV shows as table names).
Upon entering the reception they discovered perfectly coordinated, handcrafted DIY décor decorating the guest tables. (Those who looked really closely could even discover a hidden Mickey or two nestled in the center of some of the fabric flowers!) Did I mention that the couple MADE all the decor?! Look how stunning it all came out!
Of course, a Disney wedding wouldn’t be a Disney wedding without a little genuine Disney magic, and Mindy & Tim’s castle cake, created by the Disney chefs, was truly a work of art. Note how they painstakingly recreated the fabric flowers from the wedding decor - out of sugar!
Just when you thought you’d seen it all, this fairy tale castle cake was made even more special by the addition of custom cake topper figurines including…Walter the Cat!
I happen to know that a lot of long nights and hard work went into all of those details, and it really did pay off! Everything came together so well to form celebration that was equal parts beautiful, personal and magical. Congratulations Mindy & Tim!
