Hey there! My name is Megan and I will be your captain for today’s journey. Laura has handed over the ship’s wheel and I’d like to welcome you on board my maiden blogging voyage. Just sit right back and I’ll tell a tale… of when we returned to The Queen Mary with Arlene and Cameron, a super cool couple. They are a little bit rock ‘n roll, a little bit vintage and whole lotta fun. That’s why The Queen Mary was the perfect venue for them to celebrate their union in fabulous retro style.
Their ceremony took place aboard the ship in the historic, perfectly restored art deco chapel. Friends and family were excited to dress the part.
Speaking of excited, we are always thrilled to help a fur baby down the aisle. Nemo (their appropriately named dog) did a great job as ring bearer. Just look at that face!
Arlene and Cameron worked hard to incorporate little winks and nods of their personality into their wedding. Such as these super-cool, retro comic book postcards used in place of a guest book.
And these handcrafted, pinned bug table numbers. Yes, I just said “pinned bug table numbers.” As in, these bugs are part of the bride’s personal bug collection. Why? Because Science!
And finally there were the surprises. Both Arlene and Cameron approached us separately asking for our help with a secret surprise each had planned for the other. (No pressure!) For Arlene, we covertly placed a custom “Creature from the Black Lagoon” cake topper, which she had commissioned as an ode to Cameron’s love of all things vintage and rockabilly.
And not to be outdone, Cameron wrote and performed a personalized song for Arlene. He even created lyric cards that we passed out to the guests in super-stealth mode. You really should have seen Arlene’s face when all her closest friends and family joined in on the song. And check out the rad retro microphone he used to serenade his new bride.
Congratulations Arlene and Cameron! Thank you for letting us time travel along on this oh-so-personal voyage with you.
